Texas Bar Foundation selects Carl David Adams as Fellow

"Becoming a Fellow is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a member of the State Bar of Texas," says Chairman Otway B. Denny. "Because Foundation bylaws limit the number of nominations to one-third of one percent of Bar members, Fellows comprise a distinguished group of legal professionals selected by their peers for their service and commitment to the profession," he says.

To be elected for this lifetime honor, attorneys must be nominated from the districts in which they practice, be considered worthy of membership by the Foundation's Trustees, and be willing to pledge financial support to the Foundation's work.

What does Board Certified mean and why is it important to me?

* To receive the designation of "Board Certified" an attorney must meet a rigid set of criteria.
* One must have been licensed for at least five years with three of those years in the specialty in which certification is sought.
* 25 - 50% of the attorney's practice must be within the specialty.
* The attorney must have handled a wide variety of cases in the field to demonstrate substantial involvement.
* Continuing education in legal seminars is also required.
The two final criteria are:
* The approval of judges and colleagues in the field that the attorney is worthy of certification and
* Passage of a written exam administered by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
